CORK TILE SHADES AND TONES

As a natural product, the shades and tones of natural cork tiles will vary within tiles, from tile to tile, and from lot to lot. Our inspection process includes a sorting by shades/tones so that the tiles for each floor are within a general range to avoid having very light mixed with very dark. When preparing the layout and before gluing the tiles, you can look at a group of tiles and determine if you want to lay them at random or lay them to avoid having one of the lighter shades next to one of the darker shades.

CHARACTER MAKE-UP OF CORK TILES

No two cork floor tiles are exactly alike. Each style of natural cork flooring has its own unique characteristics and each tile within a particular style will have its own markings and characteristics in relation to other tiles of the same cork style. Markings and/or irregularities in character and complexion are natural and common from tile to tile. This is a natural product and no two tiles will be exactly alike.

APPLICATION USES
Residential and light commercial.

Our cork floor tiles are commonly used in homes and in cottages and are also used for light duty commercial applications. They're being used in all rooms of a home, including kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, foyers, bedrooms, and living room areas as well as for below grade applications.

DENSITY
Approximately 500 Kgs/m3 (some variances occur due to compression of cork in blocks).

BASIC SIZES
12" x 24" (300mm x 600mm actual size)
12" x 12" (297mm x 297mm actual size)
6" x 24" (148mm x 600mm actual size)
Other sizes may be available upon request.

SIZE VARIANCE
Size tolerance is +/- 1mm per 300mm. Any variations in the width of the 12" x 24" tiles are compensated for by laying tiles of the same width in a row.

THICKNESS
4mm with the tolerance allowance of +/-0.25mm. Our tiles are usually within a tolerance range of +/- 0.15mm and any floor appearance variations are usually minimal.

SQUARENESS
Squareness tolerance is +/- 1mm per 300mm on the diagonal.

BEVELLED EDGES
Our optional beveled edges are 1.5mm wide x 1.0mm deep, and the opening becomes approximately 3.0mm wide when the tiles are butted together. Optional smaller and/or larger bevels are available upon request.

BENEFITS
Cork is an environmentally friendly product that is used as a flooring material for its warmth, sound absorbing qualities, and comfort.

• WARM, COMFORTABLE AND QUIET
Cork is one of nature’s natural insulators and our cork floor tiles are manufactured with maximum cork content to provide the warmth, comfort, and quietness that should be expected from the cork.

DURABILITY
Our natural cork floor tiles are compressed during the manufacturing process to provide for service as a soft type of flooring material. Finish coats of approved finish are to be applied on site to provide a protective wear layer for the cork floor.
• EASY CLEANING
With our recommended urethane finish, our natural cork floors are very easy to clean; it’s as simple as vacuuming regularly and damp mopping occasionally.
• EASY MAINTENANCE
Urethane is a common wear layer finish applied to cork floors as well as to other wood floors. Urethane wears with use and should be recoated as required. Renewing the surface on our cork flooring is as simple as cleaning the floor, scuff sanding to dull the surface, and applying 2 new coats of approved urethane.
• WATER BASED PRODUCTS
Our approved installation and finishing liquids are all water based and have been carefully selected for their waterborne composition, high quality, flexibility, and compatibility to cork.
